RAISE YOUR HAND

IF YOU ARE TIRED OF:

Doing it all alone and having a hard time saying no to last-minute requests

Getting leaders on the same page when it comes to systems and processes

Trying to stretch a small budget to fit the many needs of many ministries

Being overwhelmed with all there is to know and learn about church communication

TIRED OF TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHERE CHURCH TIME ENDS AND LIFE BEGINS?

And you've probably asked yourself this question at least 100 times...

HOW CAN I CREATE SYSTEMS AND PROCESSES THAT EVERYBODY LOVES

— EVEN WITHOUT A BUDGET?

UGH...

I remember those days. No time, no budget and this deep desire to make a difference, to make things matter. Communicate efficiently.

For the sake of the Gospel.

I saw church communication as a ministry and that was in many ways my mission field.

Maybe I couldn't see their faces but I knew there were souls on the other side of every slide, every announcement, every postcard, every bulletin, every mailer.

Real people.

The problem was I wore many hats.

Designer. ProPresenter clicker. T-shirt presser. Web update-r. Video producer (ha!).

Maybe you can relate.

There was never time to stop and plan. Who am I kidding? There was barely time to stop and think.

Flying by the seat of my pants is an understatement.

Insert *sigh* here.

Saturday nights I would sit by my computer waiting for the notes and Scripture for the sermon that would begin just a few hours later.

Sometimes I had a great image for the sermon series (by the grace of God) but had no clue how to turn it into a sermon bumper video.

Other times, I had the perfect sermon bumper but had no idea how to turn it into a banner for the website, a banner for Facebook, image for slides and an image for our newsletter.

Many times we used a blurry screenshot of the video.

#dontjudgeok

And I heard it often from my spouse: "You're not even being paid to do that!"

But I'm glad I've asked myself these questions.

What can I do to create consistent systems and processes?

And how can I make sure the pastors and other leaders love them AND follow them?

And what if we don't have a budget, can we still have a communication plan in place?

But before I tell you what I've found, let me tell you about some myths I've debunked along the way.

MYTH 1

BUDGET: "Until I have a budget for communication this will never get better."

MYTH 2

ENGAGEMENT: "No one reads announcements and we can't get them to engage."

MYTH 3

LEADERSHIP: "Leaders will never understand the importance of communication."

MYTH 4

TIME: "I don't have time to do anything else besides chasing deadlines."

WHAT IT IS...

A 7-week mentor-led church communication training program for consistently creating communication strategies that grow with your church (even with ZERO budget!).

WHAT IT IS NOT...

It's not for the know-it-all but small group sessions led by a mentor where we pop the hood and walk together from day one.

It's not a library of videos that overwhelm or collect dust, but curated content that is sent week by week.

It's not the next new thing. Trendy now, obsolete later. You will learn timeless strategies that go beyond trendy tactics.

It's not a set of complicated workflows just for big churches but your own strategy independent of budget or size.

FAQ

  • Where are the group meetings?

All meetings are held online, with your mentor and your small group. You will need a strong internet connection, a camera and a good headset as they will be done via video conference. Meeting times depend on each cohort.

  • How much time do I need to commit?

You will meet with your mentor and small group for 90 minutes every week and you will have weekly videos to watch and missions to accomplish that may require another hour or so on a weekly basis. The more you commit the sooner you will see results.

  • I'm just a volunteer, is this for me?

It depends. Are you a volunteer just helping out with a few tasks a week or are you committed? Would you be able to get a meeting with your pastor and share with him what you would like to do? If you have at least a little bit of influence you may find that this program is the answer to all of those nights wondering how to get leadership buy-in for church communications.

  • What prior knowledge do I need to have?

Assuming you are already familiar with your church and how communications are done now, you don't need to have any other expertise or knowledge. That's what we are here for. Proficiency with a computer will be essential for the group meetings though.

ABOUT THE MENTOR

I'm Barbara Carneiro. I'm a wife and a mother of three. A geek and a strategist.

I am a church communications mentor and a communications director as well as the owner of a branding agency for churches and Christian ministries.

I accidentally became a church communicator when I encountered Jesus for the first time through a church plant in 2010. I faced the same struggles you face now but the Lord brought me through them and now it's time for me to pass on what I learned.
